Default Changing fans in a Sagitta Raidmax

My current setup is in a Sagitta Raidmax and i've got some plans to improve the current Air Cooling.

At the moment its all stock. But here is the plan.
First plan is to add a Xigmatek S1283 Dark Knight to my cpu. But i've found this can touch the side case fan i have.

So i need to change the side fan (80mm)to something thinner (say 15mm, vurrntly 25mm i think.) but which would still provide a sufficient performance?

Second part is to change the back exhaust (120mm) and put another 120mm in the lowest three 5" bays of the case. I thought this would create a good flow thru the Xig as well. The door isn't an issue as its broken off in a vacuum accident

Third (stick with me here!) is it worth putting a 120mm fan in the lower front of the case. the intake blows against a solid HDD support wall, and the draw has to come thru some very small inlets.

Or 4 is it worth turning the side panel over and changing the layout of the fans, plus cutting some more holes?

So the shopping list is for:
1 x Thinner 80mm side fan
2x 120mm fans

plus a few ideas for a method to replace the drive bays with a fan. My preference is for slightly quieter over slightly more powerful. Budget of about £30 for the lot i guess.

It would be great to get some ideas, you can imagine the response i get when i try and explain some options to the other half!!

man that is a horrible case.
well the intake for sure isn't worth it at all. best you can do is just put slimmer intakes on your side panel. maybe drill another hole next to your existing hole. there are other options that the s1283, so maybe you should look into clearance more.

So it's probably best to save the money from the fans and buy a better case then?
That is a good idea, coz i've run out of HDD slots but i've got 4 drive bay free.

Yes, definitely.

Pick up an Antec 300 for around 45$, I got one for my secondary rig and can attest to its quality and good cooling.

You must be Psychic because "whats the best alternative?" was going to be my next question.

I was looking at the 900 because its clearly popular among the members here, but £80 is a little out of my price range. £40 for the 300 looks like it'll meet my needs, plus i can upgrade the fans in the future as and when i need to.
At least i won't have to check the dimensions of the coolers i've been looking at, it seems it can handle all of them.

Thanks.

Well the buying has begun (gently) with a lapping kit, and 2 yate loon fans D12SM-12. The Thermalright HR-05 Sli NB cooler is going to follow closely and then the the CPU cooler will be based on the Xig/Noc/TRUE fight-off in the forum thread.
I'm still trying to pick up a 2nd hand Antec 900 to save some ££ (So if there is anyone getting rid of one in London, UK let me know )
I've found is £72 delivered (but i'm hoping as the V2 comes into stock store will try and clear out the "older" stock.)

They are cracking good value, i do like the front firewire, and side window of the 900 though.

I sold on the Antec, just need to find a bargain one.

Well i'm about to join the Antec 900 owners club. The order has been placed and hopefully it'll get delivered early next week. I'll try and get some of the cable management stuff and keep it looking top notch.

I'll start looking at NB and SB coolers to buy with the CPU Cooler. Do most people get something for the MOSFETs too?
