Default Push to limit?

To be honest, I am getting a little bored of the 775 stuff...

I use a Q6600 with P5Q-Deluxe, VID 1.2375, and Lapped TRUE with Push/Pull.

I have been running it 3.83Ghz now for awhile, always keeping my eyes on the safe range of temps, which idles around 30c and loads around 60c, with 1.4375 Vcore.

I have been experimenting with pushing it a bit, and I am up to 3.9Ghz with 1.475 Vcore. I have also replaced my fans with something quieter (Scythe Slipstream 110CFM) than my Silverstone FM121s. (Huge difference in noise)

Anyway, my temps are now around 33c idle and 72c load, small FTT Prime95.

I know the sweetspot on my OC is with 1.44v and 3.83Ghz, and I know it won't gain much from an extra 70mhz, but my question is...

Are those temps okay to run? I am getting bored, but I also don't want to kill my PC in the next couple of days either. What do you guys think?

Well..the temperature thing seems to be a bit of a theory. Many people here at OCN just consider it a myth. Personally I don't like my hardware getting to hot.(I mean 172F is a little to much for me lol..)But since the performance difference is so little, why even risk it? Hot hardware is a known cause to failing hard ware...

What do you mean a "myth"? What are some thoughts on the temps and longevity?

Well like I said many people here(not myself included though.) Believe that temperatures is some trend that OCN just started up. If you search around, you'll probably find a guy who was running his E8400@80c for like 12 months strong or something.(I remember seeing it somewhere.) I don't know the exact relationship. but I'm sure manufacturers leave them at their specs for a reason. Since the gain is so small though...why even risk it? If you're just wanting some suicides or benchmarking. That's different, as for 24/7 use..not really worth the worry imo.

You are right... But I haven't really pushed to the limit yet though... I have been able to post with 3.96Ghz, with 1.52 Vcore, but was too scared to stress test since I know the temps should be around 77c load. I would like to hear from some people who have been running at those temps or above, and their feedback on it. Have you noticed any decline in OCability through stress? Any CPU that's died? I mean, what's the worst that can happen?
