WaterCooler
![]() |
After dismantling my water loop and deciding to go back to air cooling (only until I build my next rig, then back to H2o), I bought myself a true black 120.
Using the razor blade to gauge the flatness of the base, it was not as bad as I was expecting. I started with a low grit of 280, just to get the nickel off. Then I went to 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, and finally 2000. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The corners dont look to good though ![]() ![]() ![]() Very pleased with how this looks ![]() And finally the razor test (It is straight, it was me leaning and pushing the true when I took the picture. )![]() It took around four hours from start to finish and I am relatively pleased. There are a few visible scratches, which don't show in the pictures and I might buy a finer grit just to finish up. The main thing is that it is flat. I will see how it performs when I get a chance to mount it next week, then I may also lap my Q6600. Thanks for looking.

Wow, very nicely done. The corners shouldn't matter much seeing as processors have rounded corners.
Two thumbs up!

Thank you.
![]() I want a decent fan to pair with my new heatsink, at the moment I am considering an S-Flex, but a 38mm would be better as I am looking for high static pressure. I am not interested in the ultra kaze's. Anyone in the UK know of a supplier of panaflo, or san ace fans? Only because I have heard good things from members on OCN regarding these fans. I have a few medium/high speed yate loons left over from my watercooling setup, are these a better alternative to the S-Flex?

I'm using the S-Flex and I'm very pleased. I have no experience with the Yate Loons because they don't sell those over here.
