Question Thermalright True Copper vertical mount?

Heya Guys,

Looking at purchasing a true i noticed the true copper, now this thing weighs 1900g! With fans thats gonna be 2kg+, I was wonderinng if i should buy this or just the extreme. My case is a tower so im slightly concerned it would break my mobo.. The mobo is a gigabyte 790x, would it be worth while trying to secure some weight off of the mobo with zip ties?

It all sounds far to make shift..

Copper is at best 2c cooler.
Go for the black or the extreme.

Mine is in a tower case also - but i dont have anything on it to help support it.
You can use cable ties to attach it to the top edge of the case - wouldnt be a bad idea if it will be moved alot - if it isnt being moved - it is fine as it is

Im not to concerned about the weight of the true black, id love to buy the copper but i dont really want to decimate my mobo.

Aiming for the best air cooling i can get at the moment (am2+), 2kg compared to 790g is massive.

Anyone else mounted a copper vertically?

i do have it vertical on mine usually - it's horizontal atm - just testing it (vertical is better for me)

labelled photo of when it was vertical last (and all my fans labelled also)

You could attach cable ties to the heatpipes and then connect it to the parts where the side panel connects easily

Look into the Prolimatech Megahalem, it's a better cooler.

I would get the mega, but there are no am2+ mounts for it looks like im going for the true black.

2kg+ hanging off my mobo sounds like death to me.

Isn't it possible to use an AM2 bracket from another cooler? That's what I thought anyway. Not 100% sure so maybe someone can confirm.

It is possible. You need Enzotech AM2 Retention Module
