Skip the Noctua. A heatsink is only as quiet as the fan you put on it. There is NOTHING about the Noctua that makes it quiet except for the fan that comes packaged with it... and according to jason's review... Every cooler he tested performed better with the Noctua fan than the Nocuta... INCLUDING the Xiggy Dark Knight.

See:

EDIT:
If you really are concerned about a quiet build... I suggest just getting a fan controller. That way you can use high speed fans and silence them when you need to and run them full blast when appropriate.

Thanks that was helpful yeah i've got a fan controller, but this zalman sounds like a model plane all the time.

I don't mind lapping the hsf, i'll just have to do a lil research into the techniqu, and it doesnt have to be silent, as I have an Amour plus, which has got more holes in it than... yeah you get it

I guess that the megatron looks the best performance option. Can It still have 2 120mm's strapped to it?

Thanks all

Expensive and disappointing. I second the Mugen 2, for $32 it is a freaking steal. FYI they include the mugen 2 compared to the thors hammer in that review and the Mugen 2 beats it while being less the HALF the price. The mugen 2 also includes a fan and the thors hammer does not.

You certainly can use 2 fans on Megatron. Zip ties are always a great option. And as much as I like the look of the Hammer... given the comparable price and performance... I'd go with Megatron over it.

I really would like to see someone here do a review of Thors Hammer vs. Megatron. I never trust other websites... especially not when they barely overclock the test CPU.

You could get a quiet Scythe or something else but avoid Sleeve bearing.

EDIT: that means no Ultra Kazes.

That x2.

Even my San Ace 1011 (which really is a beast) is pretty fricking silent due to the 2 ball bearing.

The silence is due to it's quality design

Dual ball bearings are actually supposed to be the loudest bearings
(But the longest lasting)
