I'm getting a CM690 case and a cheap fan controller.

Should I buy 2 D12SH (high speed) or D12SM (medium speed)?

I don't want a jet engine. I've also heard the high speed fans are not recommended EVEN with a fan controller because they are loud at lower RPMs also...

help!

I have 4 of the high speed models in my case on a fan controller and they're nearly silent when I throttle them back to ~1000 RPM.

As for a cheap fan controller, the Sunbeam Rheobus is probably your best bet.

I've got two D12SM fans on my Megatron. #809 bought from Jab-tech and very effective.

My high speeds are pretty quiet, most of the noise comes from the air it's pushing. It's about as loud as one of those large quiet tower fans on low.
