Why would you get the expensive dark knight when the original one is $26

The difference was fans, and nickel/aluminum alloy over copper pipes. The fan on the dark knight moves much more air, at least the specs says it does.

I purchased the dark knight and an extra ultra kaze fan to do a push/pull setup, along with that mounting bracket so I can orient it to pull from front to back. I'll post a topic later with pics as soon as I lap my cpu and this heatsink so I can start overclocking

I emailed Prolimatech and they told me they are adding AMD support for Megatron by mid May , I'm getting mine as soon as AMD support for it is available.

I think the wait is very well worth it, especially if they make a bolt through for AMD , I can't wait.

I got the type-s retention bracket. Beyond that, and the extra nuts and washers, the x-bracket that comes with the heatsink will be all I need to mount this "sideways?" Just want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything so I can start this project all at once when I receive it.

you may want to grab a scissor bracket, the S1283's 775 mounting hardware isnt fully compatible, but DOES WORK.

Edit: better image

Yes, the 775 clips are UPSIDE DOWN in this image.

just doing this, my temps have dropped 3C, the move from MX2 to IC7 Diamond, another 2C, im down from a 40C/56C idle/load to 36/50C. 8]

So you're using the 775 bracket that comes with, or a 775 scissor bracket? All I can find is this thermalright 775 bolt through kit and scissor bracket.

I have a Dark Knight, I get great temps with my 920. 1.54 vcore(stock fan) and max temp of 53c-ish. Its facing the 200mm fan in my Antec 900. I love this heatsink.

If you want the fan to blow air to the back of the case, get the Scythe Mugen 2 instead. The Mugen 2 cools as good as the S1283 according to most review, and you can mount the fan in all sides.

i just ordered the scissor bracket for mine. The 775 clips that came with the S1283 work, but its not a comfortable fit.

this lip either needs to be cut off, or even easier, the clips should be replaced.
