Is it necessary to pressure mod the cooler? What benefit it gives?

As discussed earlier in this thread, it is not necessary to pressure mod this cooler (in fact Prolimatech advise against it). The talk about pressure modding was due to the lousy mounting mechanism attributed to the TRUE - by adding an object such as a penny or washer to create space between the heatsink and the clamp performance would be greatly improved (about 10 degrees less). The Megahalem has no such issue....

I think I might pick one of these up soon with my next pay check My 9700LED doesn't cut it with this C2Q

no. This cooler is about as polished as it gets. From what I could tell on the actual retention mechanism is that a pressure mod would not even work. These people who are saying, "do a pressure mod" have no idea wth they are talking about. There is such a thing as TOO much pressure on the cpu ihs.

Installed my Megatron, very nice heatsink, extremely happy with my choice. It fits very well on the MIIF with a 25mm fan, seems to have enough room to comfortably fit a 38mm. I haven't tested with a 38, but I'll buy a nice one and see if it works.

Hi Rook: I would like to know the idle and load temps without overcloking? Can you please post it here?
