Is the vote based on actual use and experience or is it based on what I have read on the internet. People seem to be going with the flow and rating megatron the highest because that's what they read.

scythe mugen 2 was rated 2nd by xbitlabs.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coo...oundup_21.html

Its a much better cooler than stock but its down on its knees cooling my i7 at @4GHz. My loads are close to 90C under prime and that's with a vcore of 1.168 (yeah, D0) and 1.25VTT.

Is there someone here who has direct comparison of scythe mugen 2 and megatron? I don't mind spending 60$ if my temps fall by 10C. Will I see that kind of effect by moving to megatron?

sounds like to me their is another problem cause those temps are awful for those voltages. Reseat the Mugen, redo the thermal paste, bad airflow, base isnt flat, something isnt right. I have the Prolimatech Megahalem and I was doing some stress testing yesterday with it 185x21 HT on vcore and QPI @ 1.3 running Linx and my ambient was in the 27-29C range and temps were 76,76,75,72.

Can you do a run at close to 4 to 4.1Ghz with that ambient? I am really really interested in knowing the outcome because that would mean that I can try Megatron. My ambient is about 30-33C at this time. So, a temp below 80C for 4.1Ghz for you will be a win for me for the megatron because that would mean that I can run 83-84C instead of 88C.

I will really appreciate your help with this.

Even though the IFX-14 is slightly better, I voted for megatron because the IFX is too large to even mount in many instances.

Well today my ambient is a bit cooler today 24-25 ATM and for me to get stable @ 4.0 with HT on Im gonna have to raise my voltages otherwise Linx BSOD on me but temps were in the high 70's before it crashed on me. Just wondering are you gonna keep HT on or off for your 24/7 use?

I am going to keep HT on for 24/7. Too many multi-threaded apps that I run on regular basis.
