So if you add the extra few degrees for ambient it would be in the low 80's. Im only using a 86CFM Panaflo also

Yeah, because it's a shoddy quad-core cooler and more suited to dual cores like yours. Xigmatek has much better coolers for substantially less. When it comes to CPU coolers, ALWAYS take performance over beauty.

Thank you so much for the run! I think I have only a couple of degrees to gain with Mega with a 7C difference in ambient, so I am going to stick with Mugen 2 for now.

I notice you are using 21x multi on an Asus P6T and your gflops look little low. Does it stick to 21x under load or does it lower it to 20x. This is one of the drawbacks of the Asus P6T board. The multi drops to 20x after 4Ghz. May be you are right at the boundary and it works for you. Realtemp shows the actual multi dynamically if you want to find out.

I voted for the Noctua. It's so refined, very quiet, works for enthusiasts and regular users alike, comes with a high quality fan and is ready to rock right out of the box.

100 votes achieved so far. No surprise Prolimatech Megahalems leading the way followed by the TRUE, then the S1283 DK surprisingly.

It's probably down to publicity and being overwhelmed by hype and popularity for the TRUE and Megahalems, but has anyone considered these two yet - ThermoLab BARAM & Titan Fenrir?

Titan Fenrir got given the best cooler review in Custom PC (top UK computer magazine) ahead of the V8, TRUE and Mugen 2 - beat all for lower temps. Yet has only 1 vote here so far.

Heres more reviews:

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/coo...z-cou-cooler/1

http://www.bjorn3d.com/read_pf.php?cID=1552
^Beaten by the other 2 only as they has 2 fans compared to the one fan on the Titan, but still keeps up.

And same for the Thermolab BARAM, Both not big names so probably justifies their very low votes, but still another top cooler and cheap like the Titan.

Good point. Superior cooling isn't the only criteria I have in a cooler though, otherwise I would have voted for the IFX-14.

Im using Gigabyte G power lite and its real cheap, and can be compared with more expensive ones.. my ambient temp is 33C , at full load I peaked at around at 57, not bad for a cheap cooler

The real Macgyver would have made one with a pack of gum, a paper clip and a quarter.
