I voted for the OCZ Vendetta 2 purely because I have one and I'm very happy with the performance I got for the price I paid ($35 shipped, much cheaper than "the best" coolers out there). Plus I think it looks more aesthetically pleasing than the Xigmatek.

I didn't think to take into account which socket the coolers fit?
Are we supposed to consider compatibility/price/performance or just performance?
I like the look of the current front runner but without an intel system have no way to test one

Voted for Mugen 2. Using a Baram for my new LGA775 build and a Zerotherm Zen FZ120 on the parent's AM2 rig, but am getting Mugen 2 for my trusty socket 478 Pentium 4. Scythe is one of the few manufacturers I know that still make coolers compatible with older sockets and that's a plus for legacy users like me. Mugen 2 also isn't restricted to the AM2 top-bottom fan orientation unlike some other brands are, another plus.

I voted for the Megahalems. I have one and it is a pretty sexy cooler!

For second place I would vote for the ifx-14. Shoot, I don't care if it is big, the ifx-14 deserves more votes! But I think the Megahalems is better, especially since I have read that the ifx-14 is only slightly better than the true... even with the huge size.

Prolimatech Megahalems. Every review points at it and says it is the best. It has a near perfect mounting system. It is easy to mount correctly the first time. The base is very flat and pretty lustrous out of the box, and has the ability to use two fans for a push/pull setup. I have one, with two Scythe Slipstream 1900 RPM/110 CFM fans and my E8400 was always below 50 degrees Celsius in Prime95 (it is overclocked to 450 x 8, 1.35 VCore in the BIOS). It also has the ability to use 120mm x 38mm fans with different fan clips. It was designed by ex-Thermalright engineers and can be looked at as an improved TRUE.

The TRUE is great, but the mounting system is not as good and the base is not flat.

The Noctua NH-U12P just can't deal with as much heat. It only has four heat pipes, and it has less fins. The fans it comes with are very high quality, but only spin at 1300 RPM and have a 54 CFM rating, which makes them inadequate for highly overclocked CPUs. The base isn't very flat from pictures I've seen, but the mounting system is said to be very good.

The COOLER MASTER V8 is probably the best single fan CPU cooler. However the heat pipes are not very close together, the included fan only has a 1800 RPM/69.69 CFM rating, and the base is concave.

The COOLER MASTER V10 is basically a V8 with another heat sink to cool the RAM (also for the CPU), more heat pipes, two 2400 RPM/90 CFM fans, and only two heat sinks surround one of the fan, rather than four like on the V8. It does a little bit better than the V8, but people say the TEC doesn't do much. The base finish is pretty nice on it.

My second vote would be the TRUE and a lapping job. One negative to the Megahalems is the lack of AMD support.
