just an update guys, i have now installed it and it know idles at about 43 deg whereas before it idled at about 48 deg. also the fan spins alot faster on this one at 6617 rpm which is really loud but hey, the old one used to spin at about 5500rpm, but it runs cooler so it doesnt matter. once again thanks for the help and heres some comparison pics of the heatsinks for anyone thats interested

i allways tought that BE cpus come without any cooler. BE are made for OC. an who on earth is seriously OCing with stock cooler?

In the product code, look for "WOF" That stands for "Without fan" If it doesn't have that in the product code, it comes with a stock cooler. If you can't find the prodcut code, just remember that only K8 black editions don't come with heatsinks (Such as Athlon X2 5000+, 5400+, and 6400+)

Are you using that stock thermal pate that comes pre-applied as a film on the bottom of the heatsink? I would definitely recommend against that. You will probably see a significant drop in temps if you put some OCZ freeze on that thing. It's a very cheap way to get a performance boost.

I'm using my 9950+ cooler on my 5600+ lol.
These heatsinks aren't that bad.
