Stay away from SilenX

I'm currently using a SilenX Ixtrema Pro (IXC 120-HA2) with one fan mounted, and it keeps my OCd
550BE cool as a cucumber. With basic front 120mm and rear 120mm case fans.

I can't say it is "better" than the Phenom II cooler with the heat pipes, or better than any aftermarket cooler with heat-pipes. But it does improve the airflow characteristics inside my case by the way it mounts.

It was relatively painless to install also, considering it will mount with the clips and I didn't have to dis-assemble my MoBo to screw it down. And it runs very quiet.

The problem with SilenX is they make huge lies about their specs and their fans are not exactly quality fans.

Take a look at this

And look at the comment on the SilenX fan here

Ah, that is discouraging news. I'll watch my fan. On this cooler it would be easy to replace with a better one. It is doing a very good job of cooling my CPU, though.
