There will not be a "significant cooling difference", maybe only slight, which I doubt.
You are right the Dark Knight has higher CFM and the fan spins at higher RPM, what else needs to be said,
Congrats on doing your own research, Dont listen to me only, I dont know it all, I only like to see people get more for what they pay for, myself included.

Does the Mugen-2 shoot air towards the rear fan(hot air) or does it shoot it upwards? My case doesn't have an upward exhaust so.. that might be a problem.

If Dark Knight shoots to the side and doesn't need to have the mobo removed and doesn't perform less well in terms of cooling cpu than the Mugen-2 then it looks like the DK is back in the race..

It's starting to get annoying..I need to look into this a bit more. I wish there was just a clear cut answer "this one cools better, the end."

Although, I'm guessing Mugen-2 'cools better, the end?'

Also, I'm looking at this fan to replace the current 120mm fan in my case (cuz it's terrible).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185060

only con is that it's very very loud..hmm...(some people say it dies out fast too...eh..)

How about this one, which is quieter but still powerful....the reviews kinda worry me though..anyone familair with Silenx?

The slipstreams are okay but have a tendency to fail. My friend has a pair of SilenX 120mm fans and while they seem okay they don't really appear any quieter than most other fans, pushes an okay amount of air and if anything a little overpriced.

The Panaflos, Scythe S-FLEXs, Silverstones and Deltas are the best in my opinion.

Edit: Mugen 2 can be oriented either way, so it shouldn't be a problem. The biggest problem with it is you have ram with really large heat spreaders, as it makes it difficult to attach a fan.

If I were you, I'd wait a few weeks to get the BEST possible cooler period, not the BEST possible cooler that happens to fit your budget right now.
You have one already, it might be not be the best but you seemed to get it to work properly at the end so you're not desperately in need of a cooler ASAP right f-ing now.

The heatsink itself is supposed to make the difference, not the kind of fans you use. The best comparisons between 2 coolers are done with the same fans, not 1800RPM vs 2500RPM. The design and spacing of the fins is not purely aesthetic or random, some are more efficient than others. Different fans on the same heatsink is enough to give a few degrees of difference, so it's even harder to compare different heatsinks with different fans.

For skimping on a few bucks the first time, you've got to buy a 2nd one.
Just be sure you won't do the same thing again and end up buying a 3rd one.
At that point, it would have been cheaper to go water from the get-go.

I'm not even suggesting one heatsink or another, some fanboys take this way too seriously.

Glad to be part of this forum

Here's a scoop on what went down.

I spent like 1 hours (seriously) reapplying the thermal paste. I kept scraping it and scraping it to perfection with a plastic card. (That card has so much silver on it now it's probably worth a couple dollars).

I slid the chip back in and this time I flipped the cooler around. I think I had the cooler facing the wrong direction this whole time. The fan was next to the rear fan, but now I placed it so that the fan was on the other side. I saw a picture seeing the air flow blow into the metal and the hot air blow out the other side of the metal. That said when the hot air comes out of the metal stackings, it'll move right into the rear fan and out the back (so I hope).

Upon starting up my comp, I had temperatures of 33C!!

Since then (it's been about 20 minutes now) my temperatures are at 38C (with the cores surprisingly cooler than the CPU at 37).

I put sooooooooooo much time into redoing the thermal paste. I also think I faced the cooler the right way this time.

Now I'm gonna' check the cooler's you guys have mentioned and see what's best for me.

Thanks again for all the great advice on coolers.
Just try clocking with the ACF 64 and see if you can get satisfactory results with it first. Your temp looks really good now, the PII 955 can take up to 62c safely. So just crank up the multi and voltage and see how far you can go on this cooler.

Another Idea is you could spend 50ish on a Antec 300 case which will greatly improve your cooling. If you can anyways. cause that case has 140mm speed 3 on top, and 120mm 3speed rear both moves 30-40 up to 79 to 90cfm. And you can install 2 more 120 fans on the front and another on the side if needed. The case is big enough to handle full size video cards. and your power supply will be at the bottom so it won't have to get over heated. Which gives more room for a better or bigger size cooler for your processor. As for as disk drives it has 3 x 5.25inch and up to 7 x 3.5bays. I think right now newegg has it for under 60 with free shipping unless they change it.

Thanks for the continued assistance guys. I just got done speaking with the excellent Newegg service reps and they told me that I could send the CPU cooler back and they're waiving the stocking fee (cuz of some trouble I've had with other products and the back and forth shipping that killed the 30 days to return rather quickly). I'll be getting the Mugen-2 I suppose.

The question now is how important is the case?

Is the case I have now+ another 10 to 20 bucks for a better 120mm fan worth it or should I bump myself to Antec for 60 bucks?

How large of a difference is the Antec 300 vs the Antec 900?

Are they worth the money? If so I'll spend it. Don't want to go cheap anymore. Could also save the money from the case and put that towards watercooling....any ideas?

Yes it would be a great investment and save you time.

Cause that way you have a case for both gaming and media + more.

And its one of the cheaper steel cases that offers the cooling it does. you won't find a better deal without speeds a bit more for the V9 case. Which is also a good case. Good case with good air flow is key to any computer user that does more than just internet or office files.

Hope this helps.

I would go with the Antec 300. I owned one and it had great airflow and a case can make a big difference in temps. I had better temps with my Antec 300 (3-5 degrees lower)than I do with my Armorsuit pc-p60 or my CM 690.
