Hi everyone, I'm having a bit of a dilemma on the air coolers, it would be great if I can get some of your opinion on this. FYI I live in Canada. The situation is the following:
__________________About a week ago I ordered some new computer cooling parts @NCIX along with OCZ Vendetta 2(Priced Match to $34.41). Only a day after they emailed me and said it's in back order,I asked them for the restocking date and they said it would be estimated at around 1 week, they also offered the option for a refund. I've read some reviews on OCZ Vendetta 2 and it seems to be a great budget cooler(Will be used to OC Phenom 9950). Then later I found out the mounting system wasn't exactly my liking(I'm worried about the pressure since it uses clips on), also the fan will be facing downward in AM2+ build. I just checked their stock and it seems like I'll be waiting for another week. Right now I have the option to leave it and wait for it to come, or to switch to another cooler. I've been thinking about Xigmatek S1283($34.49 w/ free shipping) and the Dark Knight($49.99 but I can get it from NCIX and the shipping will be greatly reduced). If I buy either of the aforementioned I would need to purchase another one of this Enzotech Type-X(About $10 shipped to Canada) for the pressure mount. Or I can just get the retention module and the TRUE bolt through to use it on the OCZ Vendetta 2. <-I think it will work. Anyway it was quite long and thanks for taking your time to read. I'm open to other options as well. Thanks in advance and will +rep. P.S: I'll be back in one hour, got an appointment with doctor right now.

Honestly, they all will perform about the same. The Dark Knight and S1283 also have to be mounted in the vertical position on an AM2 build just like the Vandetta 2. I would stick with the Vandetta unless it's out of stock for too much longer. In that case go with the S1283 as the Dark Knight is just for looks.

Get the S1283 or the Dark Knight if your into the dark nickel. You dont really need the enzotech retention thing but if you really want it go for it.

The clips don't provide a lot of pressure. They are very similar to stock heatsink clips. That is why people prefer bolt-thru kits.
__________________The Xiggy is slightly better. I would not go for the Dark Knight. It is mostly for looks. It does not perform better at all. Vendetta 2 isn't that far behind the Xiggy. About 1-2C. Stick with the one you like. Or pay double for a performance cooler.

+Rep to all! Edit: Any other suggestions? I already requested a refund on the OCZ Vendetta 2. The cooler will be used in Antec 300 with Phenom 9950.

You need to get the Enzotech mentioned above. There are no AMD specific bolt-thru kits.
