Hey guys,
__________________New to the forums and my first post. I was recommended this site from a friend. I am in the market for a new heat sink and fan. I have had experience with a few different fans and none of them I have been super impressed with. I have scoured the sites and its hard to search all of the reviews. The newegg reviews are questionable because some people are just glad it's cheap. Currently I am running a Thermaltake V1 for my fan. I have used, Scythe SCKC-1000 100mm Sleeve "KAMA CROSS", and a ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU 120mm. I have not been impressed with any of these fans. The Scythe worked the best but it still wasn't enough. I am ordering a new case and fan on newegg I want to get the order in soon so I can get it overnighted and my buddy and I can work on it by monday. So there is a bit of urgency to this post This is the new case (the Sonata has no air flow and is not really that quiet): COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP I'm running a: Q6600 Asus P5Q-E 8GB G-Skill PC6400 @ 4-4-4-15, 1:1 EVGA GTX285 OCZ MOD XTREME 700W Modular PSU OCZ 120GB Vertex as System/Programs drive Antec Sonata II Any Suggestions? Thanks, JOe K.

Get a XigmaTek S1283 and 2 Ultra KAZE 3000s
Also fill out your SigRig by going to User CP located on the black menu bar at the top, then clicking Edit System on the Left

Welcome to the forum!
The TRUE (Thermalright Ultra Extreme) is very popular for the Q6600 chip. Also, people seems to like the San Ace fans as well. (make sure to check out the Site Features guide in my signature) edit: Also the ones mentioned above.

Get a TRUE with some San Ace fans. But the San Aces can run in upwards of 30 bucks a pop. Ultra Kaze 3000RPM fans run around 10 bucks and o the same job.

I see! It has 2 wire connectors for the fan.

That is how some people set it up. One fan pushing the other pulling air through the heatsink.

Ultra Kaze vs San Ace make a big difference. Either way they are both good fans. Like said above push/pull is the setup you will be using since you bought 2 of them. They are loud and held on by only a wire frame bracket.

Is there a different solution to attach a push/pull that will reduce the noise?
__________________I'll look for a guide to set up the push pull as it seems thats not an "intended factory" setup. If you have any suggestions to make it a smoother attachment/installation that would be great. I'm going to look into fan controllers because this computer is on most of the time.

__________________that's what I went with for my Megahalem. Is a 120x38, extremely quiet, good airflow. Have been more than impressed with it thus far. temps on my q9450 (was running an AC7 Pro before) were around 40 idle and 59ish under full load with an ambient of around 28-29, overclocked to 3.2 with the Mega+Panaflo, I'm seeing idles of about 40 and load of 54-55 (prime torture testing it) overclocked to 3.6 btw, it took a total of two days for Jab-tech to get it to my door as well, with the cheapest shipping option. I think they're located in Oklahoma, and I'm in Texas, so your mileage may vary.
