Well my experience tells me differently. At least with pre-applied paste and Freezer 7 Pro. I read that it comes with MX-2 and I said "hey it-s better than my half a year old Arctic ceramique with which the E6750 came with" . And I left it on and my temps were 39-40 on idle, 60-61 max under Orthos. This is the temp reading with RealTemp 3.0 and Speedfan 4.38(TjMax :100) while with CoreTemp (TjMAx:95) it's obviously 5 degree less. Well after a while reading all these 41 degree in load temp everyone was bragging with, I believed that the pre-applied paste was crap so I removed it, did a cleanup with alcohol of heatsink and cpu, and put the Ceramique instead. BIIIIG mistake, my temps in idle are 44-45 and in Orthos are now 67-68 which is NOK (ambient temp is 26). I have to buy now some Arctic silver 5 or something and try to re-apply again at least to come back to 60 under load

The sensor is stuck it seems. Don't worry about it though because the upper temps should still work fine and your other core reads the temps below 40 so you should have a good idea of what both are at.

i got the same cooler and CPU. Mine is OC'd to 3.6Ghz. I get about the same idle temps you do (I have heard of stuck sensors on some of these chips). I haven't run Orthos recently, so can't comment on those load temps using that right now, but when playing games, it usually hovers around 55C. I am using AS5 on mine. I might reseat it sometime, but beings it doesn't overheat while playing games, I'm not going to worry too much.

Yeah push pins are a pain, good you see you got yours on there right. By the way, the pre-applied stuff on the AC7 is actually MX-2 and is better than AS5. I reseated mine with AS5 after installing it with the MX-2 it came with and my temps went up a a few deg.
