Default First time lapping cooler!

Check it. catchthefloaty and I got this done in about 3 or 4 hours. This thing had some serious valleys to it. Actually had to go down to 80 grit to get it flat. Went all the way up to 1500 grit though and after seeing the results we skipped the 2000 grit. BTW it's a Tuniq Tower.

Right on good job man. Now lap your Q6600 and watch your temps drop like mad.

My lapped Big Typhoon and lapped 3800x2, even with cheap white TIM, cool awesome. Idles within 1*C of ambient, at stock voltage I have yet to see 100% load temps go over 39*C. OC'd @ 1.55v maybe 45*C.

All temps are core temps not IHS.

Wow, very nice job. Thats one hell of a mirror finish.
Have you tested the temperature difference you get?

Wow nice results. The Tuniq is actually on floaty's E5200 but I don't think we're gonna lap the cpu. If it was a better OCer maybe, but it's on the low end of middle of the road I think.

And there's no way I'm gonna lap my Q6600. I had to RMA it once already and with my luck it'll go out as soon as I get done lapping it. Plus floaty is probably going to inherit this q6600 sometime soon and I don't think he wants me messing with it.

Luckily my Noctua came lapped (bought it used).

Thanks. Actually we lapped it when we switched it from my Q6600 to his E5200 so we aren't really sure how much it affected temps. With as deep as the valley was on that thing though it had to have made a difference. I used that cooler for 2 years and had no idea the whole time it was a bowl on the bottom.
