two fans is not necessary as the 2nd fan will only give you a couple degrees lower. You want the fan so its pushing the air through the heatsink out the back of the case (or up to the top exhaust if you like to mount your cooler that way). Fan controller is not necesary if you get more fans as there are many programs (including the bios) where you can set your fan's speed (rpm) in.

Also, the Megahalem does not need to be lapped. Prolimatech has stated that lapping it may in fact decrease the performance of the cooler. You should leave it stock, it outperforms everything out there already.

what would happen if i leave the fans without adjusting RPM?

They'll run at auto settings if you do that. (You can set it in the bios or with a third party program like speedfan). With auto settings, the fans will automatically adjust their rpm depending the temps if your hardware. For example, there's only one CPU mobo fan plugin, so they fan will rise on its own on auto settings if you are rending, playing a game, etc. If they are not 38mm fans, you probably won't have to worry that much as most 25mm fans aren't as loud.

Yes, you'll have to get a 38mm fan bracket. Also, without a fan controller, your selection of 38mm fans is going to be rather small unless you like noise.

38mm if you don't care about noise basically. I used to own ultra kaze 38mm fans and they were loud even with a fan controller, but there are other brands that make quieter 38mm fan. San Ace, Panaflos?

I noticed you're running Corsair Dominator on a p5q series board. Does your case have a large top-mount exhaust fan?
__________________I had to orient my Megahalem upwards to blow out of the 200mm fan on my Antec 900 so that it wouldn't interfere with my RAM slots. Also had to pull the mesh/plastic cover off the side so that it didn't hit the side fan mounting bracket either. I'd recommend the Panaflo M1BX if you need a quiet, solidly performing 120x38 fan. It's also relatively middle-priced for a 38mm and built well. http://www.jab-tech.com/120mm-Panafl...X-pr-3110.html http://www.jab-tech.com/Prolimatech-...6-pr-4428.html http://www.jab-tech.com/Prolimatech-...m-pr-4433.html that's everything you need for an Intel setup at the place I got mine.

also...since the usual cpu fan connectors have 4 pins...am i supposed to fit the fan thats on the HS to that 4 pin connector (NOT MOLEX) or the usual 3 pin connectors? if its into the 4 pin...will the 3 pin fit into it without breaking any pins?
