Easily hit 4ghz on a p45 with a q9550 and a magatron. I have used both a 25mm 77cfm fan, and a 38mm 133cfm fan and there is maybe only a 2c difference. Just get a nice fan. If you wanted to go extreme like me and don't care about your ears then get a panflow or ultra kaze. I think that 25mm white silverstone fan is super nice!

If you can't hit 4ghz on the Megahalems, you can't hit 4ghz with any other air cooler

whether you can hit 4.0 is up to your processor and mobo more than it is a Megahalem. If you can hit that (stable) without some form of sub-ambient cooling, then a Mega should be enough to make it work.

Well I finally put it all together.
__________________I went with 2 120x38mm Ultra Kaze and I put them in push-pull setup. They are freaking loud. I thought my PC was loud already but damn. Good thing I got a fan controller lol. I'm actually running the fans at around 1900-1950RPMs and they still sound louder than my previous setup. But not much. I can tolerate this. Impressive though. I copied someone's settings that were posted on this board and I went to 4.1Ghz and it posted, I tried to install the OS and I got some error reading from the CD. Having some experience with many errors before while overclocking I figured it was the RAM. I have this RAM: OCZ XTC Platinum Edition PC2-8500 DDR2 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-18 Dual Channel EPP Memory Kit I heard it's bad. People have issues running it at 1066 and I was trying to run it at 1150Mhz. I had it running at 1066Mhz before with no problems though. However at this FSB there is no way to run it at 1066. Anyways I copied someone else's settings with lower voltages and went to 4.03Ghz and with the memory at 950Mhz with CL5-5-5-15 timings and it installed the OS but I noticed something unusual. It took a while to start copying the files from the CD. Not the usual Vista install. Anyways everything seems really stable, I installed the drivers and did all OS updates. I will test stability when I get home. I think it is stable though. I need to check the real CPU temp. The bios shows like 24-25C on idle which seems really cool considering how high it's overclocked but then again it's the BIOS. I haven't updated the BIOS yet either. It has Bios version 2001 I think. This is the Asus P5Q Deluxe. It kind of sucks if I can't run my RAM at 1066Mhz though since it's the stock speed! Well I'll do some stability tests later and also overclock the video card. I really hope the video card overclocks ok. The temperature on the video card reads 66C on idle, mmmmm that seems high. It's the BFGTech GTX 280 OC edition which is only overclocked to 615Mhz vs 602Mhz on the reference GTX 280 and the Memory is at 2212MHz which I think is the same on the reference GTX 280. And the shader clock is at 1350MHz vs 1296. This sucker will hit 80C easy under load.

if you're underclocking the RAM due to the divider you're having to use, you might be able to tighten the timings some to make up for some of the loss in frequency.

I order 3 of the 88 cfm yateloons from jabtech and 2 ultra kaze 3000's from newegg.I will be testing this weekend to see what the best combo for my i7 920 is .I have a TRUE(with 2 sets of clips and two Thermalright fan holders for the 120x25mm fans) thats Lapped and i just bought a Megahalem(with 2 sets of 120x38 wireclips and 2 sets of 120x25mm wireclips). So i will test both H/S's this weekend to see whats best with what fans.Im gonna test Noise vs cooling / single fan vs push/pull etc.And Im gonna make shrouds out of some old masscool 120x25mm fans i have to see if that helps any.Ill just gut them out. Im hoping the 77cfm Yateloons are the best combo for either one.But what ever does best for me ill keep and sell the other setup with a set of fans with the clips for a push/pull setup
