Bottom line: Get the Megahalem.
mine's been thriving even with a high ambient. It's 100-103F midday around here, ambients are probably creeping up into the low 30's (C) and my individual core temps haven't gotten over 56C (coolest is 54, hottest 55 occasionally 56)

Expect to see about a 10c drop in temps with a megahalem for about the same price. No point in getting a V8 with better coolers in the same price range.

v8 is a good heatsink but it is not near being the best.
my favorites heatsinks are.

Thermolab Baram http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...id=2346&page=5 and i´m sure that if you do the lapping his gonna freeze your cpu much better than ther TRUE sorry for his admirers i prefer the BARAM!!!
Prolimatech Megahalems this thing rocks like the true
Sunbeam core contact freezer 120 http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...id=2271&page=5
Xigamatek s1283, s1284ee or the dark knight any of those http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...id=2302&page=5
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (if is was not for the lapping thing it would be in the second place with the megahalems) http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...id=2244&page=5

i really don´t like the system push-pull I prefer the assembly with spikes or screws as that of the BARAM that I believe that it is one of the most complicated systems but the heatsink holds very well avoiding that the weight of the heatsink curve the motherboard

i´ve heard that the direct contact pipe works really good with the quad cpu´s

this site has great reviews http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm
the megahalms is not there but it works very similar to the TRUE is not in the top10 because they don´t do the lapping thing.

here is the coolermaster V8 comparison with anothers heatsinks http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...id=2314&page=5

Because of availability in my region I was forced to get the V8. Im quite happy with it, load on my Q6600 with the stock cooler was 69C, now its only about 54C. Idle went from about 44c to 33c.

I had originally wanted the xiggy but it wasnt available to me here. Very happy with the V8, I dont think i would change it until i move to i7.

Frostytech has the worst HSF reviews on the web. DO NOT trust anything they say.

V8 looks cool and all but so does Megahalems. If you pait it up with 2 35mm fans it looks like a beast. My friend when he first sow the Xigmateck i used to have he was not impressed at all but after he saw teh Mega he was so amazed by the looks of it.
