The Dark Knight should be ok

If you want improvements, you could tape the sides and add a 120x120x38mm fan like a Panaflo

NOO!!!

The Mugen 2 is the best cooler for the money. Its cheaper AND it cools better. The installation is not hard at all. And you don't need to lap it.

I already bought the DK and it is on its way. So unless I cannot achieve my objective using DK, it does not make sense for me to pay the restocking fee of $6.

Mugen 2 is too big though it has good performance/cost ratio and a bit trickier to install compare with DK.

=> esocid,
if you OC to 3.8, what's your CPU temp like (assuming ambient temp is around 70s) ? actually this question is quite controversial because it is dependent on many factors:

- ambient air temp
- PC casing
- airflow within the casing
I may have imagined it, but last I looked you had a 940 or some AMD CPU. With an LG775 you should have the clearance and won't need to mod anything.

I can't speak for a temp on a 3.8 OC, especially on an i7, but I can guess it would idle around 48C for a Phenom. Maybe lower if ambient temp is 20C.

Actually I just got an Intel i7 920 - D0 and it is using LG1366. I see that you are using AMD chip. So I guess you won't be able to comment on i7-920.
