Default Runs like a sweet machine, sounds like a small airplane

Hey guys,

I just got a CoolerMaster 922 HAF and put in a Xigmatek 1283 with Push/Pull configuration using 2 Scythe 3k Kaze's. This case has 200mm fans on the front and top, and a 120 tricool in the back.

This case is freaking loud It's not like I didn't expect this but I guess I didn't expect "this." It's louder than our server room at work (which only has 2 servers but still).

My question:

How can I control the fans to slow down when the machine is not at load or not in use?

I have tried speedfan but it won't control the fans. I also have tried my motherboards onboard Asus Q-Fan control and Fan Xpert software but nothing seems to be slowing down these fans at all.

I plan on purchasing a hardware fan controller but in the interim I am looking for some good fan control software.

Any suggestions?

JOe K.

P.S. I am able to get 3.6ghz on my q6600 with a voltage of v1.41 with the core temps maxing out at 55 and 60 respectively.

Are you referring to Asus' AI Suite which has Fan Xpert on it?

Speedfan is a pretty good way to control the kazes. Keep them at slightly above 2000 rpm and you'll still get nice static pressure with a much lower volume.

Since the kazes are the things making the noise, he will have no problem whatsoever controlling them through speedfan.

@ JOE K.

Speedfan can be a bit tricky to set up to control fan speeds if you don't know what you're doing.

PM me and I can type it up.

I have tried speed fan but for some reason it will not control the fans at all. I have an ASUS P5Q-E MOBO.

Alright here goes:

1) make sure your fans are connected to things called "CPU_FAN" on your mobo. Usually those are the controllable ones. Try using your other program now.

if that doesn't work:

2) Dl and open up speedfan, find the one that's your CPU fan. Will probably be listed as fan 1.

3) Click configure

4) Click on advanced

5) Find the chipset that controls fan speeds and voltages, the first several listings should be "Temperature sensor in diode 1 - 3"

6) right click on PWM Mode 1 and change it to software controlled.

7) Apply those settings, and changing the % fan on the first page you see when you open speedfan should change the speed of your fan accordingly.

Again, keep it above 2000 rpm

I don't have a software controlled option.

I have PWM 1,2,3,4

Mode 1: Fan Speed Cruise
Mode 2: Smart Fan III
Mode 3: Manual PWM Control
Mode 4: Thermal Cruise

I'm not sure which one is "software enabled" I can be fairly certain its not Manual PWM Cruise. Perhaps I have Q-Fan enabled
