OMG, they raised the prices, I got my Megahalems for $59.99 just last week. I don't remember for sure, but I believe the clips were selling for $2.49 or $2.99, I should have gotten them then, .

After seeing the results after I lapped a different cooler (CM V8) and my QX6850 at idle (wasnt able to test the cpu temps under load because my board died), I am sold on lapping. Definitely lap it and your CPU and most definitely get some good push/pull fans.

FWIW, my temps dropped from around 38*C to 21*C at idle.

^Sounds like you just had your V8 seated wrong first time around. It would have needed to have a large dent in it to benefited that much from lapping.

I heard that 120 x 120 x 38 work better than the the 120 x 120 x 25 on the Mega if thats not the case that props to you Noahmateen ( prolly spelled it wrong) fellow bay arean thanks to your thread i just figured out what fan Im gonna go with for my Megatron (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185060) and for my Cosmos S (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103060). The slipstream is a terrible fan for a CPU cooler. Has no static pressure at all.

Yes, the 38mm fans will work much better on the Mega. The way it is laid out, it takes as much air as it can get through its fins.

OK than scratch whatever I picked. Does Scythe make another type of fan that would be good for a cpu cooler thats below 40db and has static pressure

They make the Ultra Kaza in 1000rpm, 2000rpm, and 3000rpm flavors. The 2000rpm (DFS123812L-2000) is rated at 32.91dBA and 87.63CFM, while the 3000rpm (DFS123812H-3000) is 45.90dBA and 133.60CFM. CensusPC gives the cheapest price I've seen for it. Prices have ranged from $7.95 to $13.99 at many retailers without shipping (many nail you with shipping costs).

Honestly, those fans are crap, and are louder than their specs say. A panaflo would be a much better option.
