I want to overclock a E5200 to 4.0ghz with either the IFX (lapped w/3fans) or megahalem (w/2fans) cooling it how high do you think my temps will be?

Very very low. I'd say 60c MAX.

80 dollars for this kind of performance is............CHEAP

however, it just doesn't have the same "WOW! water in a computer! ^%@" effect when i show my rigs to non computer savvy people.

but for a good $200+ cheaper than a high quality water loop and getting pretty good temps I am sold on the idea air cooling!(at least for know, while i don't have money to pay for water cooling)

I really lik the IFX but since it would need to be lapped I am not sure if i have enough patience to move a heatsink back an forth for 3 hours(especially if i could of just got the megahalem)

Is lapping really that hard/worth it?

thanks for everything

I would personally go with the Megahalem. If you go IFX you'll have to spend money on 3 good fans ($10+shipping each at LEAST), and you'll have to lap it, and buy thermal paste, pressure mod it.....
If you go Megahalem, buy some thermal paste, and a fan and thats it
Megahalem might even do better than the IFX...not sure

Agreed. Not worth the effort when you can get near the same performance straight out of the box from the Megahalem.

IFX vs Megahalems

Megahalems is the best cooler to date, beat my Lapped pressure modded TRUE.
The mounting system is second to none, easy to install, great mounting pressure, no need to lap it....etc

Lapping is easy
Most of the time you're just moving a chunk of metal back and forth

If you don't have the proper grits it might take a (really) long time or you might not achieve the desired results however
