Yeah... having a big ass cooler isn't always the best.
The 8600GTS's chipset is positioned so low on the PCB, that when you mount the Musashi, it bumps onto the PCI slot below when trying to install the card again. SO just a heads up: Make sure your GPU's heatsing mounting holes are positioned at least 1.5-2cm (3/4") from the PCIe connector before ordering the Musashi, or probably any other large heatsink unit.

Are you sure your 8600GTS is reference?
Some non reference boards have weird designs.

I tried it both on the EVGA and the MSI board. Both have the same chip height, the MSI is just a bit longer.
