Hi,
__________________My setup is: E8500 E0 (VID 1.2375?) (@3.8 ghz, 400x9.5, @1.16875v Bios 1.104v CpuZ idle) Asus Striker II 790i Asus Silent Knight II Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600 7-7-7-20-1T GTX 275 I've made the system stable on air using: CPU: 1.16875v (Bios) NB: 1.30v (Bios, can't select a lower voltage) Mem: 1.80v (Bios) I'm also planning to reduce the: VVT PLL voltages to as low as is physically stable. My question is, apart from the system running cool (prime 95: 48c, Intelburn: 61) is there any possibility of damaging any components because of the voltage being too low (esp on the Northbridge) i.e. maybe corrupting the HD, etc?

Not that I'm aware of. The only issue you might encounter from undervolting would be instability, but sounds like you got that covered. I've been running my laptop undervolted since I bought it and had no problems whatsoever.

Not if it's stable. The aim is to get the lowest voltage whilst still being stable. So if it is stable with that voltage then it is fine

Undervolt and stable = better than stock.

From my experience and reading around the forums undervolting is not "dangerous". You may run into similar problems with overvolting (blue screens/stability issues/ etc) so just go slow and don't go too crazy and I think you'll be fine. That was mainly geared towards CPU as far as other components I can't give you a definitive answer there.

IMHO the only harm from undervolting is that your files (including OS installation) might get corrupted with an unstable setting. It sure won't hurt the hardware.

You what?

It's not any different from overclocking - the stability risk is there, but the life of the chip is greatly extended instead of shortened as overclocking would do.
And indeed, less power usage.

Yea, it's stable on intel burn.
__________________It's ridiculous, setting all auto voltages on the Striker II (@3.8, 1600fsb&mem) intelburn ran up to 76c with a good CPU fan. So I decided to decrease the CPU voltage. Unbelievable how much cooler you can get it by overriding the stock auto voltage downwards. Took it down to 1.1000v posted but wouldn't boot windows. 1.145 booted windows failed at prime95 after a few secs with bsod. Then tried 1.1600 that passed prime but failed intel burn. Finally settled on 1.168v with stable intel burn. The NB was different, I downclocked it all the way and no crashes, nothing. This is all on q-fans (dynamic fans) so the southbridge MCP is still idling at 65c, any one know if that's ok? If I set the fans on duty (100%) it idles at 56c, but I'd rather have a quiet case.

Undervolting is not dangerous. If you undervolt too much them you will run into stability issues that cause BSOD or errors when trying to boot into windows or any other operating system on your computer.
