So I have decided it is time to get rid of the stock cooler
![]() attached picture is what my cart is Will the mega be able to bring a q9550 up to 4ghz? If the CPU is capable obviously, will the mega keep temps low enough? Hopefully purchasing this today

It should buddy, but its not the best cooler i've seen. I would go for something better, like a;
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24705 or: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24537 or: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=23111 I doubt that one you have choose will take it to 4 but maybe around 3.7~3.8. This should do the job.

Megahalem non-lapped is the best. If you are going to lap it, then get a TRUE. I've read that the Megahalem is pretty flat already, so you won't decrease temps that much by lapping it. GL PS: Quote:

I have had both, and have done numerous amounts of testing on both.
The prolimatech megahaelms is definitely the better cooler. The Noctua however, is a very good cooler as well.
