So what are the options if I don't want the sound of a turbine kit next to me? I'm talking quiet fans, not those stupid 38mm things undervolted.

alex98uk, I'm guessing you've never heard a San Ace 120. It's one of the stronger 38mm fans and when it's undervolted, it is practically silent and still powerful. Pretty much an undervolted San Ace 120(aka 1011) is equivalent to a noctua except more powerful.

If you are saying just right off the bat quiet, then you are right and it's not the fan for you. At that point, you might as well buy the noctua.

Yea, but what if I didn't want an undervolted fan?

I just got my TRUE and a lot of people were going ape **** to make me get some 3000RPM thing. When I said "quiet please", they said it undervolts well, you just have to do this, this, this and that.

What if I just wanted some good 25mm fans, quiet for push/pull? I'm using Zalman ZMF3's at the moment.

yeap like ChickenInferno says the san ace´s are ****ing amazing for undervolt but they are to expenssive ( for me )
the noctua´s , or scythe s-flex, nanoxia, gelid,etc... you can put they if you wan on push-pull mode for great performance they are almost all 25mm
they are pretty quiet but i don´t know if they have enough static pressure
except the s-flex that everyone that have´t says they are great fans..

Yeah, I had looked at S-Flex 1200RPM but I was told that the Zalman ZMF3's had better static pressure, especially in push/pull

Yeah, pretty much everyone screams Ultra Kaze 3000Rpm or Delta's. For performance purposes, they are right an ultra kaze or a delta will outperform your two zalman's. The TRUE has really tight fins and gets an advantage with higher Static pressure and CFM fans, which a San Ace is. I can pretty much guarantee that my single San Ace undervolted will still beat you push/pull configuration.

I can't find any info regarding the CFM or the static pressure of the Zalman's, which is ussually a sign that it's very small.

San Ace's ussually go for about $15 on ebay.

and that's what matters

@Angmaar - Just another thing to add to the Pressure Mod section. When you lap both the cpu and heatsink, you lose a small amount of material and create a very smooth surface thus bringing the surfaces alot closer with less pressure. The pressure mod is most commonly done after lapping just to get the pressure back let alone add more.

That's a good thing to mention.

I will add the fans you mentioned to the list.
