And what surprised me the most was when I put in on my 3800x2, at stock clocks and voltages, it idled AT ambient and 100% load was only 9*C difference from idle. Another bonus is the fan blowing parallel to the board keeps memory and PWM IC's nice and cool also. For $20 shipped it is an excellent cooler. |

How do you think the dk would do if it was lapped?

Probably better than it would do box stock. But since its heat pipe direct touch, and the base is perfectly flat, the gain probably wouldn't be as noticeable as a cooler that is not HDT.
When I decide to lap it I'll post a thread with the results. |

prolimatech Megahalems the best of best 65 to 60$ + fan(120*38) 10 to 25$ (ultra kaze, panaflo, san ace, delta). delta, san ace, panaflo, ultra kaze in that order if you can“t take the extras Db with those fans put the scythe S-Flex on push-pull 10 to 15$ per unit
thermolab BARAM pretty close to the true(lapped and washer mode) and megahalems 50$ + fan 10 o 25$ TRUE pretty close to megatron(megahalems) but lapped and in washer mode. 55 to 65$ + fan 10 to 25$ (to much work just only for his fans i think) don{ go wrong i think it“s a grea fan but not for me. or Xigmatek S1283, S1283DK, S1284EE all of hese under 45$ great performance/cost you can manage to put they with push-pull fans sunbeam Core Contact Freezer 120 40 to 35$ i think this are better than the xigmatek“s but you can“t put it on push-pull some sites http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ great site they have almost everything http://www.jab-tech.com/ good cheap prices http://www.performance-pcs.com/ they have almost everything to http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/ they have almost everything to but a little more expensive.

In regards to the Ultra Kaze fans, IMO, that should be a last choice as it seems they have relatively high failure rates and make noise when underpowered (lower fan speed). Quote:

Scythe Mugen gets my vote. a little bit cheaper than the DK and it cools better than it also. Some say mounting is a pain, but i honestly don't think its a huge hassle

the ultima 90 is even better. I really dont know what one to get. Here are the options: http://jab-tech.com/Scythe-Mugen-2-C...r-pr-4391.html Scythe Mugen 2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233029 Xigmatek DK http://thermaltakestore.com/clp0114-...d-pro0114.html Big Typhoon http://www.crazypc.com/store/merchan...Category_Code= Prolimatech Megahalem
