Same cooler with plating? Logic would dictate: no-plating = better heat dissipation.

No, because it's black nickel, it actually dissapates heat better than the megahalems. Same way the dark knight will outperform the regular s1283 slightly.

No, it would remain basically the same. The difference is so small (with the unplated cooling better) that you won't notice it.

The reason the Dark Knight performed better is because it came with a better fan and bolt-through kit.
