As far as I know, this would work pretty well, right?

Yeah it's a great cooler, and that's a pretty nice deal. I had one on my 4850 and worked very well. If you are going to strap a fan to it, be prepared as it will take up 4 slots total in your computer.

You should be fine. I had an HR-03 R600 on a 4890, (the difference is the angle on the gpu covering plate) It just barely covered the 4890. As the HR-03 GT is the correct angle for a 4870, it should work fine.

i think an accelero S1 runs less than 5C hotter and costs like 19 bucks right about now, and it fits 4870's fine
