Silent Whisper is either redundant or an oxymoron. I can't figure out which.

Oxymoron statement are contradictory. This is sort of redundant, but not entirely.

Well the results are less than spectacular
AM3 x4 CPU idle temp after 2 hours is 38c as opposed to 45c with previous 939 setup
MB temp after 2 hours is 28c
Ambient temp 78F
guess i need a new cooler
I had to use AS2 because my AS5 turned almost black and was so dense i was afraid to use it.

Whoa, how old was your AS5?
Not that old. couple months
On a side note: my CPU temps are now averaging 36c so that's acceptable
Makes me wonder what i could have accomplished with a quality cooler and some Coollaboratory Liquid Pro thermal compound

I assume you're talking about the Sunbeam silent whisper cooler.
It fit AM3 fine, mounted the same way it did on my 939
