Default Prolimatech Megahalems + Socket 1156

Will the Prolimatech Megahalems work with any socket 1156 motherboard if I use their socket adapter?

If you are able to get the 1156 socket adapter then yes.

Also, some of the 1156, p55 mobos has LGA775 holes which will allow you to use LGA775 coolers (ie Megahalems which is a 775/1366 cooler by itself).

if you still haven't bought it, just buy a megashadow instead. it comes with a free 1156 retention bracket. and the price gap with the megahalem is just about $5 anyway.

Are there any 1156 motherboards out there that allow you to mount the megashadow+25x120mm fans without blocking the ram slots?

i have everything purchased except for a motherboard.

So far, i've tested it with the Gigabyte-P55-UD4P mother board, and the fan is blocked if the gskill ddr3 1600 ram is installed.

What type of ram do you have? model? do they have heat sinks?
Low profile rams will allow you to mount whatever. However if you rams have heat sinks then you can try to mount the Megashadow in a different position.

I have these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231279

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH - Retail

They have heatsinks built into them and they're about 1.5x higher than low-profile ram.

The thing with the LGA1156 socket motherboards is that most of the decent ones have PCH Heatsinks that will block the way even if you reposition the Megashadow.

I guess right now.. it's either buy a cheap mobo, or wait for a better designed one...

*edit*
Plus, the video card is right under the CPU, so even if you reposition... wouldn't you just be blowing hot air into the megashadow?

Did it block only 1 ram slot or both of the first ram slots with a 25mm fan?

Terrible design in that sense. I'm still waiting on some parts to come in but I'm pretty sure my Core-Contact Freezer isn't going to fit. The only other things I would use are a TRUE or Megahalems but I doubt they will fit either.

It blocked one for sure, I couldn't recall if it was properly hovering over the second slot as well...

the EVGA P55 motherboards look like they have some space between the ram and cpu.. but i'm still not 100% sure.
