Default Scythe Big Shuriken @ 680RPM, 52C

This is the idle speed for the Scythe Big Shuriken I just installed on my 720BE. I used AS5 thermal compound when I did so (only used about half-a-rice-grain).

Speedfan says that it's running @ 100%, and I can't turn it up. I've also tried turning it up in the BIOS to no avail.

Try plugging it into another 3-pin power connector on your board. Some connectors can't be controlled by software. You could also plug it directly into your PSU for maximum power.

I wouldn't expect much from that cooler frankly. Also use AMD Overdrive for fanspeed.

Coretemp reports 34C in all the CPU's cores! Much better than 55C, fosho.

However, Everest still shows "CPU" as being 52C, and my BIOS shows the CPU "chipset" as being that same temperature. Is the core temperature the one that matters?
