Default Possibly a new stock cooler for Gulftown

A new tower style HSF from Intel for Core i9 (Gulftown). Of course, most enthusiasts like us will opt for aftermarket cooling solution but those that are looking to save a few bucks or just want to do some light OC'ing can just stick with the stock cooler.

These pics are supposedly prototypes but seems like they're going in the right direction in terms of the design.

They're getting bigger and bigger. Maybe for the one after Gulftown will be even taller. lol

What do you guys think? Do you think we'll be able to reach 3.8 - 4.0 GHz with just this stock cooler?

That looks like a very good cooler. But the fan blades have an odd shape... I will have to see what happens. Depending on stock clock speed, that is probably good for 4.0

Who knows?

Usually stock coolers provide the bare minimum needed to adequately cool a processor.

Maybe Gulftown runs hot?

Hmm.. good stock replacement cooler for older 1366 processors. Beats that old circular POS stock cooler the older cpu's have.

Edit:
At least the 1k processor doesnt have a sorry excuse for a stock cooler now

But it's only Extreme Edition right? Or at least for now?

Most definitely. Now when you're buying a Gulftown and go with an aftermarket HSF, you can sell the stock cooler for more. lol

No words on that yet. Remember this is just a prototype. The final product might be something else altogether.
