Default Shroud for Panaflo on Mega?

I was wondering if anyone is using a shroud for their fans on Megahalem or True. I am currently using 2x Panaflo 38mm fans, and I haven't experimented with shrouds yet.

Can someone explain to me the benefits of having a shroud and how it might benefit in Air Cooling situations?

Using a shroud makes the dead spot that's created by the fan motor smaller, leading to better cooling performance. It's especially useful when using 38mm thick fans because the large motor creates a bigger dead spot than a 25mm fan.

I've thought about using a shroud on my TRUE. Just have never gotten around to gutting a fan housing and taking my rig apart to set it up.

I am using a shroud and makes a rather big difference. I noticed a 2C drop in my temps when I added my shroud. It makes a difference especially if you are using a delta.

Did you use shrouds on both Push and Pull?

No, I only have a push. But a Push/Pull would be the most effective and with shrouds, it would be even more so.

problem with your idea....
i just read a bit ago about a user testing the diff. between a nice 38mm thick panaflo fan (or something of that variety)
to a normal 25mm thickness mediocre fan, and only seeing a ~2c diff :/

to add to that.... (more of the deadzone theory)
look at how the cooler is designed.
its designed to compensate deadspots, hence the fins cutting in in the middle, and not going all the way through the middle completely.... so i doubt you will see any better performance.

It would almost be impossible to use a shroud for the exhaust, as it would almost be touching the case exhaust fan...

Are there any tests that shows the benefit of using shrouds?

Also, should I use a 25cm or 38mm fan shroud?

Good point!

Does the use of shrouds change the static pressure or CFM of fans?

Cool. Thanks. +REP to you for clearing it up, and saving me couple of hours worth of experiments.
