Default Fan filter comparison

Which is better between these two:

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=1830

or

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=25850 (there's a medium-sized hole version of this one)

just get some pantyhose and make your own. it works great and its cheap. the first one would collect more dust though

Yeah but there are really applications that you can't use pantyhose with especially when using rubber fan mounts.

So you'd recommend the first one.

Get a wire coat hanger (from the dry cleaning)..

Cut it open and bend up a frame that is a nice fit around a fan. The corners of the fan will allow a frame to be a little smaller than the square outline, so once it is in place, it won't go anywhere.

Cut a piece of the pantyhose material to cover the frame by about .5", wrap it around so that the excess is "outside" the frame when pressed into place. This will prevent the extra material from being sucked into the blades.

I got the first one (just received it yesterday) and so far it seems very promising. Just had it for a day or so, can't really comment on it yet. lol

I use it for the bottom intake of my HAF 932 because the fan there seems to collect the most dust. I can post some pics later on if you want (at work right now ).

The filter's quality seems pretty good. I got it from Petra's Tech Shop in about 3 - 4 days (over the weekend). The mountings were pefectly aligned, same thing with the threading for the screws.

After:

Sorry about the quality of these pics. It was a bit cloudy yesterday. Anyway, I'm going to use it for a few days to see if it'll "filter" out some dust and so on.

Just dust your stuff regularly, doesn't impede Airflow as much.
