The Contenders:
CoolerMaster V8 ![]() Prolimatech Mega Shadow Deluxe ![]() Testing Setup: AMD Phenom II X4 940be @3.8ghz 200x19, 1.52v Foxconn A7DA 790gx+sb750 Team Xtreem Dark 2x2gb DDR2 1066mhz Inno3d 9600gt Armor Samsung Spinpoint HD321KJ 320gb Raid-0 Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Tuniq TX-3 Delta WFB1212HH 120x25mm, 95.35cfm, 54.9Pa, 42.5dBA Sanyo-Denki San Ace 109R1212H101 120x38mm, 99cfm, 70.4Pa, 39dBA Testing Method: 15mins Prime-95 In-Place Large FFTs for stressing Speedfan 4.39 for temp measurement Aircon+Dehumidifier for ambient temp control Results: ![]() The Delta fan used is stronger than the stock V8 fan so don't be surprised if the difference is not big (gives me 2c difference if I remember). The V8 is a pretty good heatsink anyway. While the rest of the set-up had 27C ambient, I tried my best to get the room when testing the Mega Shadow with the San Ace to 27c, but as the test ended, I looked at the sensor, and it was 28c so I placed it as it is. Conclusion: I must say that I'm very impressed with the Mega Shadow. Not only it got the looks, but also has a beast of a performance. If not, the best performance on air. While the V8 offers a good performance against a stock AMD heatsink, it simply doesn't stand a chance against the newer and more expensive Mega Shadow since both heatsinks look cool and sexy anyway ![]() As for the 25mm vs 38mm fan, it's very obvious that heatsinks, especially the Mega Shadow, loves more static pressure, and it makes a big difference.

MegaShadow is the megahalem painted black, of course it will come out on top. I could have said that without testing though

Thanks for testing! Did you find installing on an AMD platform as trouble free and wonderful as I did on my Intel platform?

![]() well it was a pain to install the heatsink since the amd retention mount has this 4 elevated screwholes. And the 2 screwholes for the 90deg allignment seem to block the heatpipes making it hard screws for the lock to reach them. So i removed the extra screwholes and viola.

NICE! Thx!
Like I have told others who have the V8, if you want a improved performance, get a better fan. Question, the fan clips used on the Megashadow are from Prolimatech? If they are, are they also holding the fan grill t00? ![]() I am just wondering how a fan grill gets put on while the clips are holding the fan.

![]() well i did used a plastic push-lock type(i don't know how you exactly call it) as a screw to hold the fan-grill.

ehhh but i also used the same fan for both, and the difference was 4c :P and the 25mm fan that i used has a nearly cfm and dba to compare it with the 38mm fan.
