They're meant to be case fans. Not very good static pressure, they just spam CFM all over the place, much like Slipstreams.

Its not CFM thats relevant with heatsink/radiator fans, it static pressure

I have to have a look at the CM Blade Master.

3.90mm-H2O vs Panaflo U's 5.08 - not that bad i guess...

That's what CM's site claims tho.

you know rosewill makes a fan with the same static pressure and it's 87.5 cfm.

me I look rpms more then air flow 1500 rpms is fine for most fans, but if you more static pressure and cfm 2,000-2,400 rpm above that they get pretty noisy too me.

If you were using a push-pull configuration, wouldn't that mean you don't need as much static pressure? Of course, this would be dependent on the heat sink design itself(where the end ends of the heat sink are closed to promote direct flow from one fan to another).

Also, CFM is still relevant as that would determine how fast heat is carried away.

You still need static pressure because for the air to reach the second fan, the first fan needs static pressure; however you don't want the second fan to be overwhelmed so make sure the specs are as close as possible to the push fan.

No, case fans determine this. Blowing heat out of the heatsink is only part of it, you need that heat out of the case.

No, case fans determine this. Blowing heat out of the heatsink is only part of it, you need that heat out of the case.

The reason why I said a closed design is because the second fan would create vacuum.

Understood, but given the large heat sinks used today, CFM still matters though the case fans should be able to flow at least the same amount. I'm not saying pressure is negligible, I'm just saying CFM still matters. Of course, the case fans should flow at least the same as the heat sink fan.

For example, if you were to have very tight fin clearances or even a small heat sink/fan, you can attain high static pressures but there's not much heat being carried away. That's the primary purpose of heat sinks and radiators; carry heat away from the source. The larger the heat sink, the more air can flow through it, carrying away heat. Of course, if you have a fan capable of higher pressures on the large radiator/heat sink, it would work better because you need pressure to push air through the fins...but you can't simply ignore CFM.

San Ace H1011's for heatsink/rads, or even rear exhaust.

Quiet case fans with enough CFM:

Gentle Typhoon AP-14
Silent Eagle 1000 "Golf Ball"

I have all 3 fans in my rig. One H1011 on my rad; 3 AP-14's on my case; 1 Silent Eagle in my PSU.
