I just put together my computer and using Speedfan I can't get an average temp because it fluctuates between 20-55C (55C for like 1 second then drops back down), even report negative numbers at times. It seems like my average is around 35C when using Speedfan. When the temperature spikes to like 52 for one moment, should I be concerned? When I go into bios it says 42C. I tried mobo monitor, however it doesn't support my motherboard. Using Prime95 I saw lows of 5C and highs of 45C (stock 2.0ghz setting). This when I'm at stock speed 2.0ghz. When I went 2.2 at times it hits 58 on Speedfan but it's only for a moment and then drops down. Anything to be concerned about? What's the most accurate way to measuring temp?
__________________Also, I just ordered a Big Typhoon and some AS5. What's the best way to remove the stock thermal paste? Also, is it worth it to change the stock fan on the Big Typhoon? What would the temperature drop be? I appreciate your comments.

I suggest you get your temperature monitoring under control before you install your new big Typhoon.
I had temperature spikes on my Asus monitor Asusprob, i did not worry about it because the temperature cannot go from 30c to 70c in 1 second. I thought it was only a monitor problem. I heard people talking about Everest as monitoring tool (I am not sure about that). My case came with a probe that you stick into the heat sink which gives me an extra reading beside Asusprob. You might wanna check if you could add something like that to you case. I am not sure about big typhoon but here are my results with the Zalman CNPS5900: X2 4200 CPU speed| 2.4GHz idle 2.4GHz Load 2.64GHz idle 2.64 GHz Load ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stock HS | 35c 51c Did not even try CNPS5900 | 31c 44c 34c 49c Also, put in mind that the dual core max temperature as documemted in the specs is 65c.

yes everest is used to monitor temps as well, there is also PCwizard. speedfan did that to me as well. but it was for my mobo temp. are you sure that your looking at the right temperature?
EDIT: heres PCwizard i'll be back with everest EDIT 2: everest home edition hope that helps with your crazy temp readings.
