Im liking my sig rig cooler. Performs pretty decent, but I would go with a xiggy, or even a true if you have more money to spend.

Ya, I know, my ambient is pretty cold right now, being by a window and in the basement, As far as load, ran Prime, for a bit when I first got it, think it got up around 36C, but like you said that has a lot to do with ambient temp. all in all, I am very pleased with the tuniq tower.

Hah, I was just under the impression that copper had better transfer and heat resistance properties, please advise if this is incorrect.

Thanks to others for posting very valuable info and guides also, seems as though my original thoughts of a TRUE w/ scythe seem quite an adequate choice. Also, whilst I am looking for a "silent" build, this is not necessarily going to be a HTPC kind of, extreme quiet build.

Big thanks again for input from everyone.

A recommendation for good thermal paste in this situation perhaps?

For cooling, a xiggy dark knight: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...oducts_id=8656 or the red scorpion version for cheaper: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...oducts_id=7943

and for thermal paste ocz freeze should do great: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...oducts_id=6738

Edit: Some fans for a push/pull config: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=11037 or http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=11381

You would be right in stating that copper is the best choice metal in regards to all the heatsinks that are made today but how the heatsink was manufactured has a huge part in how it cools as well. The Megahalem is top notch, I wouldn't say passive cooling but you can get away with running your fans very quiet and cool.

Again, my guide has 95% of the top suggestions that OCN members have been giving in the last 6 months for CPU Coolers, Fans, and even has an 80-way TIM (thermal paste) review so you can decide for yourself which TIM you want to go for.

OCZ Freeze and IC7 are very popular right now.

Agreed, OCZ Freeze is good, I am using some arctic silver, and good thermal paste is important, you can see a real improvement over stock paste. And as for quiet, it is hard to have the best of both worlds, silent and performance. That being said their as some good fans out there that are very quiet with reasonable air flow. You will pay for it though. Good luck.

Glad you found it very helpful. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside to know that my efforts weren't in vain

Some of it was for selfish reasons...got tired of seeing the same questions pop up 3 or 4 times on the 1st page
