OK so since my system is setup now and I got my Mega Shadow on there. How long do I need to stress test (with prime 95?) before I overclock it? As I overclock it I want to use the new turbo boost feature bring it up to 4ghz when turbo is on, or overclock all 4 cores to 4ghz all the time? Also Since I know yall have lots of experience in this, what kind of temperature should I be expecting? after I bring it up to 4ghz with a room temperature of 72° F? With the turbo boost on and not under load it runs at 3.4ghz at 1.17v and I'm seeing temperatures around 28 to 32 degrees across all 4 cores.
Then After I get overclock set how long do I stress test it to determine if its stable.

I cant answer the temps for your cpu because i havent read up on the 1156 sockets yet (tisk tisk i know). In answer to your question a few hours of Prime will let you know if your overclock is stable or a few hours of OCCT works as well. I like occt because it gives you a graph at the end. For your overclock to count as 4ghz all 4 cores have to be at 4ghz without turbo, at least i wouldnt count the turbo boost as a 4ghz overclock because it doesnt stay that way 24.7.

Well I have OCCT running a 1 hour bench atm. Ill post a baseline at stock with everything enabled here when it gets finished.

Here is my 4 cpu graphs for the stress test I just ran at stock with Turbo boost enabled.

OK so thats done I guess its time to turn off turbo boost and find out what my overclocking range is. Since Im using AS5 my tempatures will get a bit better as it cures.

Well talk about an easy overclock. I went into the bios and disabled all the powersaving stuff. Set the ram to 2ghz what its supposed to run at. bumped the block up to 200 so its 200x21 for 4.2ghz. I left cpu voltage on auto and it bumped it up to 1.4v Now to run it a bit and see how it does on the stress test. Im seeing a bit more harddrive activity now thats its overclocked (or maybe im just paranoid). Since 30 to 40C is norm temp and 70 to 90 is where Thermal breakdown begins. I guess we will see how good this Megahalem is.

Well I tried to set the cpu voltage to 1.4 but vdroop cause a blue screen. I went back in and turned the CPU voltage back to auto.

Use manual voltages when overclocking.I'd say your instability is being caused by something else(maybe your NB voltage),then again I dont know a huge amount about P55

yeah I got some stuff going on, Vdroop causes issues. The I7 860 only likes certain ratios too. Ive taken it back to stock for now till I learn more about it lol.
