Hello all,
I have been looking for a new fan to replace my rear exhaust fan and I have been looking at either the scythe ultra kaze or the panaflo ultra high speed and I was wondering which one is better for just general case cooling? I know that the panaflo is better for cpu cooler applications because of the higher static pressure but i'm just wondering if it really matters when applied to a case. I would love to hear your opinions on this. Thanks guys!

Neither. 38mm case fans are a bad idea. Static pressure doesn't matter for case fans so the extra depth isn't really needed.
Unless you're planning on running either of them at 100% you'd do much better with a Xigmatek XLF in terms of airflow/noise.

How come you get replies in your thread, but I get none in mine.
lol. In your case if you want to get a lot of air out at a good sound level, i'd go for some cooler master r4's.

Well, I can deal with noise. I mean, I'm planning on having 3 fans in my case with a dba rating of over 40. cooling is what matters to me the most, not how quiet it is.

I have three Panaflo Ultra High Speeds... two on my Megahalem and one as rear exhaust
![]() If it's between the Ultra Kaze 3K and Panaflo, it's Panaflo without a doubt... the Ultra Kaze is cheaper, but you get what you pay for. They use sleeve bearing, which is much less durable than ball bearing (what San Aces and Panaflos use). Ultra Kazes also have a horrendous reputation for emitting a clicking sound when undervolted whereas Panaflos undervolt like a dream (not quite as well as San Aces, but again - you get what you pay for). As said before though, High static pressure of 120x38s aren't really necessary unless there's resistance involved (as with heatsinks and radiators). The only reason I have one on my rear exhaust is because I already push/pull with them and nothing else could handle the direct high static airflow.... If this isn't the case for you, just get some nice 120x25s with high CFM
