Without Option 3, you are very limited to certain "Quality CPU Coolers" especially for Socket 1156 since there are only a few coolers out there. If I was you, I would just wait a little bit longer until you get enough money for a good quality cooler

The rig's going on credit anyway - I get interest-free till next summer if I buy before next weekend. It's just how big a balance I want on it

Ok, assuming money is no object (but time is!), what should I look at that will fit that MSI board? My case isn't huge - my Freezer 7 fits in, but I don't have that much extra clearance on it

Clearance for the MOSFET's should be around 2cm-3cm. And to make sure that your next CPU Cooler has enough clearance from the side of the case, I had to remove my side fan just to fit my cooler

Megashadow is only necessary if going for big OCs (which OP said he isn't).

Another decent 1156 cooler to consider is the Thermalright MUX-120. I'd be very interested to see that compared to the new Xiggy.

Only problem with the MUX-120, is that I can't get it from the shop

I've got no side fan, so I think I'll be ok clearance wise. I'll have a more serious browse later, it's just annoying that there aren't that many 1156 coolers out there from the big names, despite the fact that we've had Lynnfield for a while now

If I didn't have to ship to the UK, I would just send you my spare 1156 cooler. It's the cooler master tx-3, or something like that. Didn't work for me but I'm pretty sure I mounted it poorly. I just replaced it with the Megahalems.

Ok, now I'm tempted to just say "sod it" and get a Noctua NH-U12P SE2, even if it is twice the budget! It's the best of the best, more than I'd need probably, but the options are rubbish!

Cooler Master Hyper 212+? Probably one of the best price-performance coolers.

Last night I ordered the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2.

I read some really good reviews on it. I'm gonna give it a try.
