you're crazy for spending that much $$ on the gigantor fan. Also, fill in your system specs (click on "User CP" at the top of the page)

well what do people usually use to cover the sides? I'm not going to put my computer outside. I do have a small room and a large window air conditioner that i will have running full blast.

Important question, are you referring to the 2k or 3k rpm Kazes? 3k's are quite a bit louder in my experience. If you do not care about the noise, and the cost isn't too prohibitive, then go for it by all means.
Word of warning though, from someone who replaced every fan in his system with San Ace H1011's - it is very, very loud. The 1011's are slightly louder than Kazes in my opinion, and they probably would not sound as bad in the HAF as they do in my CM690. Still, if it's just for a few benches, my honest advice is to move your mobo out of the case, and stick the 2 highest performing fans you can find on your HS and bench that way. There's no realistic way an aircooled case is going to cool down a cpu better than when it is in open air. If you are going for the lowest temps possible 24/7 (assuming you do not move to water) it could be worthwhile, would also be worthwhile if you stick them on your rad if you do switch to water. I believe I see a 1 degree difference between having my cpu on a bench-setup compared to having it in my case closed. Not worth the noise levels however, not by a long shot. Trust me, I love my fans and I'm keeping them for when I go to water soon, but they are just not worth it as system case fans (and I'm going to assume the same for ultra kazes). I honestly see almost no difference when compared to a bunch of high quality 120x25mm's. I suppose it might vary for you depending on airflow/cable management/case mods. Mods like cutting out the mesh/grills help reduce resistance, which means you need less static pressure in a case fan. In short: although noise may not be important, you probably would see little benefit. Definitely you would see more by moving your mobo/cpu to open air when benching. So imo it is not worth it. Edit: Quote:
there is less than 1mm (just) of space between the top of my HS and my two top exhaust fans. At first glance it looks like they are making contact, but if you flash a torch you can just see light coming through. Basically, the upper rear portion of my case consists almost entirely of fans

Yes i'm talking about the 3k fans. You do have a very good point on the open air case... I'm trying to leave it all in my case i have now but i might try an open air case. I'm going to pick up 6 Kraze fans tonight from microcenter and see what happens on that

Dude... open up the door of the case, take it off. Put the case on its side on a chair or something so its as level to the AC as possible, and just replace the push pull setup you have going and the fans bringing air flow to it.

As PeaceMaker said, crank up the AC as far as it'll go for the benches as well.

emove the fan from the power supply because it will over speed the bearings. Make sure you anchor the case so it wont take off.

! Still you got your 940 to 3.9 on air (really? wow...) What is your voltage/temps/NB speed?I'm stuck at 3.7 with my 940 even though I pumped the voltage to 1.57 and couldn't get it stable at 3.8. Sub 45C temps (using a duct connected straight to my heatsink fan going out the window ). 1.504v CPU, 2600NB, 1.425v CPU-NB (I believe, have to check), 44C load right now since its warmed up a bit outside, and 2 hrs 40 minutes Prime stable and counting.OP sorry for the minor threadjack...

Skip the Ultra Kazes and go with Delta's. The ones listed in my guide (1st link in sig). They are quieter and move more air AND undervolt better if you do by any chance want to have a conversation with anyone in your computer room while your computer is on.
