Also, I tried using speedfan to up my fan speed for the processor, it didnt do jack.

the cpu temp was at about 53...

are you at stock speeds?, are you using the stock HSF? whats your ambient temp? the reason that your cpu fan speed didn't go up is that its probably already running at its max rpm. those temps are high though, and im assuming that those temps are at load. usually try to keep it below 50c and for sure under 55c as the absolute max.

Are your fans using a 4 pin molex to recieve power? If it is then you can control it because its getting direct power from the psu and not the motherboard. And if you are running form 4 pin molex, then your probably running at max speeds.

And, as far as I know, it isnt under load, and the fans max speed wasnt on. I can hear the difference when it is and isnt, and it wasnt.

well if its the stock set up then your not using a 4 pin molex (the kind you plug into hard drives and the like). so you say that you can hear the diff between when the fan is on high compaired to on low? your ambient should be pretty low too, as you live in canada. your cpu fan might be set up to turn on higher when the temps get higher, i think that you can change that in bios or maybe speedfan does that, i personally dont know how to control fan speeds with speedfan, i have a fan controller. i just use it to monitor the temps.

I've been thinking I should take this computer into a computer fan store and get myself fixed up with some zalman crap or something, am I guessing right?

well in a sense yes, but they'll probably charge you alot, and in reality its not that hard to do yourself, but if you feel uncomfortable doing it then that would be fine. but at stock speeds you shouldn't be running at that high of temperatures anyway and just out of curiosity, where did you get your computer? have you ever been inside of the case?, alot of dust can accumulate and the temperatures will go up alot if the heatsink fans are clogged with dust, you might check and see if thats the case, because thats a cheap fix. but yes a better heasink properly installed would deffinatly drop your temps alot.

Bought from Futureshop, I got 1000 from em for free, so I bought the comp. Its fairly new, so it shouldn't have any dust.

Its a Medion Composer 3, AMD 3800+ Dual Core, 1gig dual channel, 250mb hd
I upgraded the ram to 2gb, and the vid card to the BFG6600GT oc

Well just because you live in Canada doesnt mean your ambient temperatures are good. You could have your heater cranked up in the house, the airflow in your case could be bad, and as logan said you could have lots of dust accumulated. I highly recommend getting a can of compressed air and blowing it out. See if that helps. If not then what kind of setup do you have on your case?

Also, if temps just seem to be steadily rising and it wasnt that bad a month ago... then your problem probably is dust.
