With larger tower style coolers the effects will be minimal. Would be fun to try and build though, good luck.

Thats basically the idea... straight front to back push + pull config, with multiple fans along the way to ensure a strong air-flow.

You would need to partially seal the hole where the bottom of the heatink would exit the wind-tunnel and come in contact with the CPU. Also, if you have the spare cash or if you have a window A/C in your room you can port it directly to the wind tunnel, turn it on low speed fan with the temp set all the way down and get lower temps that way.

The best thing about this is you can affix a duct to the front fan and put it outside your window. UBER cooling on demand!

Thats the idea guys, I want to be able to drop the temps down any time. In the winter I just run a duct from outside which is easily doable with my window, and in the summer I'll just run it into the home AC vents (we got central air).
__________________I was even thinking of doing the same thing for the main in-take fans into the case (front and side). Maybe I'm going a bit extreme on the air-cooling... but meh, colder is better, right?

Main intakes won't be very beneficial imo and you might risk condensation on your motherboard.

You guys do know the air doesn't travel in a straight line right???
__________________The only way the tunnel concept will make any sense, is ONLY if your CPU cooler is drawing near a heat source like HDDs, GPUs, or whatever. What doing what you are proposing to do, you would end up covering up the rams with whatever you will be using as a duct, therefore actually trapping heat. This may not be a problem if you are not OCing your Ram, but with 2.2v to the rams and at 1000mhz and above, it will make an impact on the temps. And since most high performance rams will have HS on them, I question whether you could have enough clearance over them, especially if you are using 120mm fans. A case can be made for using a shroud for your fans, if you are using a big 38mm fan with large center to increase static pressure, but as far as a air tunnel, I don't think it would make any difference what so ever, other than making your case look clumsy and cluttered. Just MHO...
