That.

It's quick and easy unless you are a masochist and don't sand with a rough grit paper to start with.

you don't HAVE to lap the CPU. The CPU is usually flatter than poor heat sink (and when I say poor, I mean in terms of flatness). You would get a benefit from just lapping the heat sink and not the CPU. But obviously it would be most ideal to do both.

Just google "lapping heat sink" and you will get TONS of links. Youtube it too. Basically you just tape sandpaper to a thick glass or other perfectly flat surface and sand away. Start with a low grit and work your way up to 1500 or 2000.

Check THIS post for instructional video. Kits can be had for $10-$12 or you can just get the sandpaper at a hardware store.

EDIT: Doh dual post....work interrupted me....stupid work LOL

heh sorry but we wont be able to tell from pictures how flat it is. Razor Blade is pretty necessary for us to see it.

The Corsair Obsidian does not have great airflow compared to say a HAF 932. It is more of a watercooling case than an air cooling case. The airflow is kind of restrictive using conventional airflow. You might get better temps if you turn your rear fan to intake and your top fans to exhaust. Also get aftermarket fans instead of the stock Corsair fans.

This. Not a great air cooling case. That goes for all your components. It is however great for a full watercooling loop.
