Default High temps for TRUE

I recently bought a TRUE Black Rev.C, It has two slip stream jyumis at 1600rpm ( Iknow bad fans, but didn't realize at the time) but my temps even at stock speeds are terrible. Core temps are 42,44,46,39 at stock. Now my base is slightly concave. I have remounted a few times with no luck. CPU is now OCd to 4ghz with temps all in high 40s and core 3 at 50C. Under full load in P95 with HT temps are all in mid 70s. With my case opened temps are in mid 60s.

I know I should lap my TRUE but I really don't want to since it requires a lot of time and effort. Should I just sell my TRUE and get megahalems, or stick with the TRUE, add some panaflos and hope for the best? I would appreciate the input.

OC settings:
1.28 vcore
DDR3 6-7-6-18 2:8 Ram
190x21 multi
HT and Turbo mode enabled.

If any other info is needed I will post. I can also post some pics later today

Welcome to OCN.

If you could, fill in your system specs for your user control panel.

Sounds like the base is REALLY concave/convex and/or uneven. You could be using too much TIM too, but I'm doubting that since you seem to have a pretty good understanding of things so far.

Being a black TRUE, I'd say it'd be worth it to lap it. It's a freaking beautiful cooler.

ok that should be better. Didn't fill in all ocing details but thats because class starts soon uhm I may consider it but ugh I don't want to spend like 4 hours lapping. Would a mega shadow be fine unlapped? almost forgot TRUE is in N-S since E-W doesnt fit for some reason

Yea a mega shadow should not need to be lapped to get great performance out of it. Just make sure you drop those fans and get something like some panaflo's or something
EDIT: If you want to keep that True however, I'm pretty sure you're gonna need to lap it and maybe have to do a pressure mod to get some decent temps. And like I said before, get some panaflos I'm pretty sure one panaflo would outperform them.

Mid 70s for 4ghz + HT on load is not bad at all... If you really care about your idle temps then lap it.

A couple of things:

Lapping takes about an hour (not 4) and is easy and cheap.

My idles are 38-40 and loads under prime mid 60's.

The megashadow at best will be a couple of degrees better than the TRUE (and if you lap and pressure mod the TRUE, temps will be roughly the same).

Your other (big) issue is your case. The Corsair Obsidian was not designed with air cooling in mind (which is why you get better temps with the side off). It's great for water cooling though.

Also, that is a really high vcore for only 4ghz. Have you tried dialing it back?

Why not try switching up the fans first. Slipstreams are not great, if you find that after you have switched the fans you still don't like it then switch the cooler. What Robilar says is totally true though, so keep that in mind.

What is your ambient temp, that had a lot to do with your core temps. You temps dont sound to bad for an OC @ 4.0. I am considering the TRUE black, I bet it looks sweet.

ok thanks for the input guys. I will check temps more tonight. As for the high vcore. With HT vcore must be 1.29 or it crashes in p95. I still don't really want to lap it even if it only takes an hour. TRUE black looks nice in the case matches everything I know the 800d isnt a great air cooling case bit I plan on replacing stock 140mm fans with higher cfm ones as well as 2 panaflos. I also want to get something like the kama bay for the front to intake more air. As for temps these temps are after around 10 mins in p95. I think that adresses all questions. As for san ace fans, any where I can buy in canada?
